Based on the areas of concern you have, a combination
of massage therapies are offered. During each session the 'big picture' of an issue, including the strength and weakness of the muscles involved, will be reviewed and a strategy for recovery discussed.
To book your session phone Joanne on 0419 447 224.
Remedial Massage: The most widely practised western-style of massage, remedial massage incorporates scientific
massage techniques to alleviate discomfort and pain in the body's
musculo-skeletal system, which in
turn enhances the whole person. Generally slower and deeper strokes
are utilised.
Sports Massage: More
focused muscle work where muscles are broadened as well as stretched to assist contractility. Sports massage helps fine-tune muscles to maintain condition, reduce injury, speed rehabilitation and improve performance.
Swedish Massage: The
European style created in the 19th Century and based on original
Chinese movements.
These light and generally
gentle
strokes are the basis for most 'western' styles of massage
and are great for general relaxation.
Seated/Corporate Massage: also referred to as Indian Massage or Champissage.
This effective, non-remedial, treatment will leave recipients feeling completely relaxed as it has the power to remove the modern day stress and tension that we store in our necks and shoulders. See seperate page for options.
This type of massage does not use oils/creams and does not involve removing clothing or lying down - treatments are all done sat on a chair and if suitable using a portable headrest. Therefore it is good for the pregnant, the vulnerable and the busy - making it an ideal ”corporate” massage.
SLM: This is a combination of massage and acupressure techniques that put the body into a balanced state, so your own natural healing potential can work optimally.
Trigger Point: A method of releasing muscle tension generally incorporated into Remedial or Sports massage. A myofascial trigger point is an irritable point within a taut band of muscle and/or associated fascia. The spot is painful on compression - the textbooks refer to it as 'exquistie pain' - and can evoke referred pain eg you might feel pain in your upper arm but the TP could be in your scapula (shoulder blade). Once released tremendous relief is to be expected. There are hundreds of trigger points, a few of the most common are shown here:
