Fitness:
I'm keen on aquarobics (water aerobics), although I disagree with it being promoted as "for the over 50s"! It's great for any age, fab for the overweight and those with poor levels of fitness and terrific during pregnancy. Many of the Council run pools offer aquarobics, including North Sydney Olympic Pool, Sydney Olympic (Homebush), Cook+Philip (City), Drummoyne Pool and Leichhardt Aquatic Centre.
Also there's good research proving that TAI CHI Qigong is fantastic for older people as it gently improves balance, mobility and breathing as well as general well-being. A 2008 research review by Wang et al of Tufts Medical Centre concludes that it's good for people suffering from knee osteoarthritis.
I recommend the following teachers:
Angela of Traditional Qi (Sydney) and Master Teacher Simon Blow, who runs classes throughout Sydney including Annandale Neighbourhood Centre.
