This gentle healing technique helps you adjust, physically and emotionally, to difficult situations
by using your
body's natural healing ability. It with help ease pain, stress, and anxiety, whatever the cause. I was introduced to this graceful energy work and completed Reiki Level 3 advanced training in the Usui System with Reiki Master Erica Bagshaw.
What is Reiki?
Pronounced ray-key.
Reiki is an energy healing practice that rebalances your body's energy, aiding your own natural healing ability.
Reiki energy is the same subtle energy that enlivens all of creation. The underlying energetic structure of man, nature and space. Simply put, Reiki is the healing energy of the Universe. As your practitioner, I work as a conduit of this energy to restore the balances of your body, mind and emotions by lightly laying my hands on or near your body. This channelled energy then stimulates your own healing processes. As the recipient, you generally lie or sit (fully clothed) and experience a deep relaxation, calmness, peace.
Reiki is always beneficial and never causes harm. It will work to improve the effectiveness of other types of treatments, acting to reduce any negative side-effects, shorten healing time, reduce pain and stress and help create optimism. Reiki can be given 'hands-off' so people with skin conditions, illnessess or preferences can still receive the benefits of Reiki.
In January 2010, neurosurgeon Dr Mehmet Oz, on his high rating US TV Show, recommended "Try Reiki" and has Reiki Master Pamela Miles demonstrating. The segment is available on YouTube.
Formally and informally it is practised in many hospitals, clinics & hospices worldwide. Over 62 hospitals are known currently to offer Reiki as part of their treatment regimes, including:
University College Hospital, London
Columbia University Medical Center, New York
Children's Hospital, Boston
Hearst Cancer Resource Centre, California
St John's Riverside Hospital, New York
Yale New Haven Hospital, Connecticut.
